Travelers have to cross deep gorge either by bushwacking nearly vertical banks or via a twelve kilometre detour to west and back. Our group chose to do the shortest route through the deep valley beside the rail line. One and a half hours later, after a relay system up the far bank, we were on our way! The Kinsol trestle is the largest wooden rail bridge of its type on Vancouver Island.
