Lake Minnewanka Kayak Tour 1998

June 20 & 21, Sat - Sun

The Minnewanka kayak tour was designed to be a local training trip for those going on the Bunsby trip in Kyuquot Sound in July.

This tour took place in Banff National park just east and north of Banff townsite. Starting Saturday morning, we paddled from the launch ramp at the dam and made our way twenty two kilometres towards the east end of the lake to campground LM22. We camped overnight, with no bear visitations. The weather held the entire weekend with only a brief teaser of a blow late Saturday afternoon. It was just enough to remind us that a tranquil water surface can change in a minute to violent chop. Sunday was a hot and muggy day with glass calm water.

All went smoothly with a good time had by all.
